This study began in 2000 and aimed to understand the psychological health and experiences of surrogates. The original phase of the study included surrogates who had completed either a traditional or gestational surrogacy arrangement 1 year prior to taking part. The surrogates were revisited ten years later when we invited an additional group of surrogates to join the study. At this phase we also interviewed the surrogates’ children and partners about their experiences. Publications from this study, as well as findings from a twenty-year follow-up can be found on our publications page.
